On this occasion, Mr Joseph Mathias, who was conferred with the Kayyara Kinhanna Rai Birthday award recently, was felicitated by the Bank. He was honoured with shawl, bouquet and the memento by the Chairman. Sahakara Rathna Mr Anil Lobo, Chairman presided over the felicitation function. In his speech, he said that Mr Joseph Mathias, the social entrepreneur is known for his social work and charity projects among the Konkani, Tulu, Kannada and Beary communities in UAE as well as India. He thanked him for his whole hearted support to the Bank’s initiatives in the recently concluded “Insights and Interactions” programme held in Dubai. He lauded the efforts of Mr Joseph Mathias in providing employment and helping the less privileged in the community.

While thanking the Bank for honouring him, he reminisced his humble beginning at Kuppepadavu to his journey to Dubai and achieved success through hard work and perseverance and now being the owner of two well-known shipping companies in Dubai: Merit Freight Systems Co. L.L.C. & Harbour Shipping Company (L.L.C.) and a shipping company in Mangalore, Merit Freight Systems Co. Pvt. Ltd, by making use of the window of opportunity to the Gulf. He called upon the staff to work hard and contribute for the development of the Bank.
