Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, Vice Chancellor of St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University), visited MCC Bank on 10th September 2025.
Welcoming him, the Bank’s Chairman, Sahakara Ratna Shri Anil Lobo, highlighted the remarkable achievements of St Aloysius College during its 145 years of existence. He noted that the institution was recently granted the status of Deemed to be University under the leadership of Rev. Dr Praveen Martis. He further emphasized that both St Aloysius College and MCC Bank share a glorious history of over a century and have significantly served the community in the fields of education and banking.
On this occasion, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis was felicitated with a shawl, bouquet, and memento. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr Gilbert Mascarenhas, Vice President of the National-level Xavier Board.
In his address, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis expressed his delight at visiting MCC Bank for the first time, stating that he was drawn by the dynamic leadership of Shri Anil Lobo, who has always extended strong support to the College. He shared that St Aloysius College recently launched its School of Engineering and Graduate Law programmes for the academic year 2025–26, following its elevation to Deemed to be University status.
He encouraged the family members of the Bank’s staff to consider St Aloysius University for higher education. Stressing on the close relationship between the two prestigious institutions, he suggested exploring opportunities for collaboration. He also announced that the University is organizing a three-to-four-day national-level programme from 18th October 2025, which will be attended by over 350 principals, dignitaries, and representatives and around 600 institutions across the country. He invited MCC Bank’s participation in this historic event.
Rev. Dr Martis proudly noted that St Aloysius University is the first Catholic community university in the world, a matter of great joy and pride for the entire community. He concluded by invoking God’s blessings and thanking the Chairman and management of MCC Bank for the warm welcome and honour.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman Shri Anil Lobo stated that St Aloysius College has completed 145 years while MCC Bank has completed 113 years of service. He recalled the participation of Bank staff in programmes organized by the College and appreciated the College for generously providing its auditorium free of cost for the Bank’s training programmes. He further added that St Aloysius College has provided many opportunities for the growth and development of students’ talents. He thanked Rev. Dr Praveen Martis for his visit and sought his continued support for the growth of MCC Bank.
